Also, it has been confirmed that the virus can affect only the computers powered by Microsoft Windows. It reflects that the users with Mac, iPhone or Android are quite on the safe side. Microsoft has released a software updated in March which protects the users from this vulnerability but the problem still persists because many of the users have not yet updated their systems. Microsoft is not sitting still hands but has taken a good step on Friday to release another update for older computer systems equipped with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 as well.

Who is responsible for this virus?

According to the latest report by Symantec (security company) reported that WannaCry Ransomware has alone affected more than one-third to over 483,000 incidents in 2016. It is not confirmed that who is actually running this deadly virus behind the scenes. It has been found that the hack appears to be originated by the NSA who have invented as a potential tool to use it for surveillance and other security related issues. Some company has found out that a group of hackers, known as Shadow Brokers, released a cache of stolen NSA documentation on the internet, including the details if WannaCry Ransomware vulnerability.

How does this Virus Spread?

Researchers after deep analysis have stated that the WannaCry Ransomware is spreading through standard file sharing technology used by Microsoft Windows computers known as SMB or Microsoft Windows Server Message Block.
